Tag, I’m it!

I was asked by one of my favorite blogs to post one of my favorite pictures…and that’s hard!!  I have many.  However, tonight I’ll pick this one:

001_1 This is me and my oldest brother Mike, who died in 1993 by his own hand.  I’m still mad at him for that.  He and I were 14 years apart and thick as thieves.  We thought alike, liked the same things and got along really, really well despite our 14 year age difference.  I miss him every day.  I also like this picture because of the old photos on the walls – to the left is my mom about 1959 and my youngest brother Jeff, when he was about a year old, about 1955.

Now it’s your turn – I pick the following cool blogs to post their favorite pictures (and to see if you’re reading my blog!!):

KitchenRetro

Minnie Poo

Tattered and Lost Ephemera

Mabel's House

My youngest sister died from alcohol consumption five years ago and not a day goes by that I don't think of her and miss her AND I, too, am mad at her for depriving us of her fantastic sense of humor. Thank goodness we have photos like the one of you and your brother to help. A very sweet post.

Christine: Mike was the same. Major alki. It ruined his life. That was the only difference in us.

Great photo! I'm sorry Mike decided not to hang out awhile longer and find some solutions. Why is it always the mean people who stick around forever?

I love the sofa. It's hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like the same kind of scratchy upholstery as the dreaded green chair in our living room (the chair I was banished to when I misbehaved).

What a lovely photo. And I am so sorry for your loss.

And I am reading your blog! I will see what I can post - maybe a favorite pic in an ad, since I am not posting family pics now (used to on Virtual Dime Museum ages ago, but only really old ones, pre-1930 I mean)...I'll see what I can do!

The one I loved and lost was my cousin, also Michael. His picture, with his daughter in his lap at a pumpkin patch, is proudly displayed in my living room. It breaks my heart and makes me smile at the same time. He was 41 and homeless when he died of exposure after drinking himself into a coma.

I am so sorry. And it sounds like you deal with even more challenges now with your other brother.

Thanks for your blog. :)
