Pedigree Dog Paws Blog Hop

On behalf of dogs and shelters everywhere, I am posting on behalf of Pedigree’s Blog Hop.

One of the biggest struggles any shelter or adoption group faces is feeding the dogs that they take in.  There are other expenses that are incurred as well, and adoption fees in no way cover all the expenses that these groups put out to take care of the dogs in their program.  So, today, we'd like you to take a minute to help with the Pedigree Adoption Drive.

•Each year, more than 4 million dogs end up in shelters and breed rescue organizations. Pedigree created The PEDIGREE Adoption Drive to help shine a spotlight on the plight of these homeless dogs.

•This year the PEDIGREE Adoption Drive is raising awareness for homeless dogs by donating a bowl of food to shelter dogs for everyone who becomes a “Fan” or “Likes” The PEDIGREE Adoption Drive on Facebook. So far more than 1 million bowls have been donated.

•Special for BlogPaws West: For each blog that posts about the PEDIGREE® Adoption Drive through September 19th, PEDIGREE® will donate a bag of their new Healthy Longevity Food for Dogs to shelters nationwide. It’s simple: Write a post, help a dog.

•Thursday, September 16 through Sunday, September 19, the Pedigree BlogPaws bloggers will host a Blog Hop, to help raise awareness for the “Write a post, help a dog” effort.

If you'd like to join, copy the bullet points above and share them on your blog.  It can be any blog, not just one related to dogs or pets.  So, anybody who would like to join, please do.  After you write your post, head over to Life With Dogs and leave a link to your post.  Lots of hungry dogs waiting in shelters will thank you for it!

Dogs and cats, all our pets friends, look to us for help. Thanks for being a part of it.
If Poonie were still alive he'd be extremely indignant about this and I can just hear him: "Dogs? Feed DOGS? WTF, Maynard?!!" I was at the St. Francis Animal Shelter thrift store/cat adoption center in Mandeville, LA yesterday and really had a hard time not adopting several cats/kittens even though I'd be faced with certain divorce if I did (well, not really, but he REALLY doesn't want any more animals) and I was nearly brought to tears several times hearing what these sweet creatures went through before they arrived at the center. Thrown out of cars. Left on a bridge. Nearly drowned in a ditch after being abandoned. Even though some people's cruelty seems to know no bounds, there are also so many people like the center volunteers who foster the cats until they're ready for adoption, showing them love and affection and proving that humans can be trusted. So even though they (mistakenly) grossly overcharged me for a Frankoma pitcher I didn't care because hey, it was a donation to a wonderful cause!
