Dear Dad

me and dad

It’s so hard for me to believe you’ve been gone almost four years.  It seems like yesterday when I could count on your smile, your advice, a joke or a suggestion.

I find it hard to believe I’ve made it this long without your shoulder, your opinion or your laugh.

I find it hard to believe that the more time goes by, the more I miss you.  And dad would have loved these lyrics…

I loved her first, I held her first
And a place in my heart will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep

Happy Father’s Day Dad.  I love you so much.

The picture:  Dad and me, 1999. I was in town for my 20th high school reunion.

What a great picture of you two! I can sympathize with missing him. He must have been an incredible man! My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's a few years ago, and now Father's Day feels different for me than it used to as I realize our time together is finite. Here's to great dads who have raised wonderful daughters (and sons) like you!

This is a beautiful post, Barbara. My dad has been gone 10 years this September... I'm with Houndstooth - here's to great dads who've raised wonderful daughters like US!!

Sending rottie kisses (in case you don't get enough!)
Your 20th reunion. That must be 20 in dog years. Or do they have four reunions per year? That is how you got to the 20th already.

I'm sorry, hon. I so wish that you still had him here. It's really not fair.

Oh Barbara, this post and the picture brought tears to my eyes.
Soooooo sweet!

Your dad had the sweetest, kindest, handsome face..... and you look beautiful! This is a picture to treasure....
Love,
Sweet Barbara
The photo of you and your dad is so loving. I know how you feel. It just does not seem possible to have our dads gone ,, right?
I can tell that he was such a loving and giving person. His love is now living through you to others. He would be so proud of you, his special daughter.

It is nice to 'meet' your father Barbara. I wonder if it gets any easier, missing parents?

Great photo! My dad died in 1986, and I still miss him very much. He was one of the good guys too.
What a beautiful post and tribute to your Dad who was and is no doubt very proud of his daughter!
